What happened to The 12 Disciples?

(also called The Apostles in Luke)

(I gleaned the causes of their deaths from a newspaper article received years ago!)

1. Matthew - (also called Levi) (the Publican-tax collector) slain by the SWORD

2. Thomas - (the doubter-See John 20:24-29) run through with a LANCE

3. Andrew - died on a Cross

( And his Brother - See: Mark 1:16)

4. Simon called Peter - (who denied Jesus 3 times) CRUCIFIED upside down

5. James - (the elder son of Zebedee) BEHEADED

(And his Brother - See Mk 1:19 also called 'Sons Of Thunder' by Jesus - See Mk 3:17)

6. *John - (son of Zebedee) died of extreme old age

7. Simon - (the Canaanite & member of The Zealots-a subversive political party) -

died on a Cross

8. Philip - hanged against a pillar

9. Bartholomew - Flayed (skin peeled off) alive

11. Thaddeaus -(called Judas, brother of James-see below) shot to death

with ARROWS

10. James - (the son of Alphaeus) thrown from a pinnacle of the Temple,

then beaten to death with a club

12. Judas Iscariot - hanged himself after betraying Jesus

* The ONLY Disciple who died a NATURAL death!

(in the 'upper room' Acts 1:13-14 Judas Iscariot not here, thus only 11 of them left!)

When the 'storms of life' assail

Just let your GOD ~ prevail!

He will see you through it all

If on His Sweet Name you call!

'Dwell' in His Presence

both day & 'night',

He'll not leave you alone

but will 'help' you fight!

'Tyrants' or 'lions'

or great walls of 'flame',

Can NEVER harm you

if it's JESUS you claim!

Oh, many died a 'Martyr's' death

but their soul & spirit survived,

One day we'll even draw our last breath

yet up in 'Heaven' we will arrive!

Alive 'forever' ~

with JESUS we'll be,

But the 'enemy' can't kill us

till God's 'READY' for thee!

So, come on, weary soul

& let GOD prevail,

And when the 'flood tides' come in

He'll help you to 'sail'!

Right through those waters

leaping high in the air,

For He can 'calm' that storm

as you whisper a prayer:

"Help, Lord, I'm sinking

'neath this heavy load,

I need You & want You

or I will explode.

I'm weak & helpless

& need Your great Strength,

I love You, Sweet JESUS

& I know You're 'underneath'.

Holding me up

on Your 'wings' of Love,

'Carrying' me forth

amid this storm & flood.

THANK You & PRAISE You

Precious JESUS, I pray,

For You've turned my 'night'

into glorious day!

Just Your 'Presence' has lit up

& shined in on my strife,

And if I have NOTHING ELSE but YOU

I'll be 'SATISFIED' ~ for life!"

2.) Christian Family Ambushed in Nigeria

Davou Bulle, his wife, and 10 children each climbed into the van, exhausted from another full day of work on their family’s farm. He started to pull away but was soon jarred to attention by the sound of gunshots hitting the tires. They were being ambushed!

The Muslim attackers soon aimed their weapons at the driver, Davou in hopes to first kill the Christian "infidel" then kill his entire family. In an attempt to protect his father, son Gyan lunged at the bullets to shield his father, but the bullets found their way to their intended target, killing Davou. Gyan trying to help his father took 14 bullets during the ambush. Davou’s wife Mary was hit in the eye and the jaw.

After the attack, the surviving children ran to the village to alert the police. Mary was taken into surgery immediately, removing two bullets from her eye and jaw.

She lost one of her eyes as a result. Son Gyan was also operated on, removing all 14 bullets from his body, miraclously he survived. Davou left behind a wife—his widow Mary—and 10 children.

More than 10,000 Christians have been killed since 1999 in Nigeria and nearly 1,000 homes and churches have been burned down by Muslim radicals.
